New front-page photo “Yosymmetry”
Sometimes an idea strikes me while working on an image...the front page photo is an image which was mirrored with itself to create a symmetrical whole. It’s not my usual thing, but I rather like it, and so do people who’ve seen it in print. It was taken with a Hasselblad XPan II in Yosemite’s Tenaya Canyon on Fuji Velvia.
Apple’s Aperture coming soon to Raw-file converters article
A friend of mine just purchased Apple’s Aperture, and has graciously offered to let me process the six sample files (three from the Nikon D2x and three from the Canon EOS 1Ds Mark II) on his PowerMac.
Results will be added to the Raw-file Converters article, which already contains instructive comparisons of 8 raw-file converters for Nikon NEF and 8 for Canon CR2. That's a total of six files and 8 converters for 48 combinations with very generously-sized samples from each file and each converter (the article is an 82MB download). You could spend hundreds of dollars and many hours of your time performing your own comparisons, or you can skip that tedium and get the most useful raw-file converter comparison available today (for those concerned with image quality).
