Topaz Labs InFocus and other software

I was intrigued by the deconvolution sharpening in the Topaz Labs InFocus product. I don’t yet know how to use it well, but it shows potential, especially with images coming from Nikon Capture NX2 (dismal sharpening, great color).

Topaz InFocus Nearly maxes-out a 12-core Mac Pro

Guess what? InFocus exploits a 12-core machine! The InFocus software pegs-out my 3.33Ghz 12-core Mac Pro.

It’s mostly good— InFocus barfs for images over about 13K pixels wide, so I hope they fix the bug there. And it would not process a grayscale image; you must convert to RGB then back to grayscale.

Check out the software at Topaz Labs— lots of good stuff there, though I’ve explored little of it so far. InFocus is the product which might prove very useful over time, though it will require some experience to exploit properly.

And just for fun with Topaz Simplify 3, Cartoon look.
