Reader Comments on 1/3-Stop Animated Aperture Series in Reviews

Jonathan M writes:

Golly Lloyd, that Zeiss Distagon 25/2.0 looks magic! Following on from the Distagon 35/1.4, it certainly seems like Zeiss are on a roll.

I've felt for a long time that your animated aperture series provide -- in the most direct and efficient way -- insights into how lenses perform in the real world (insights that are available in no other reviews). No doubt that has always been your intention! Thanks!

On a slightly different note, would there be any chance that you could test the Zeiss Biogon 25/2.8 ZM lens? This lens has the reputation of being one of the best Zeiss M-mount lenses and I'd really like to see how it performs under your test regime.

DIGLLOYD: Yes, Zeiss is upping the ante on lens design.

The aperture series can be very instructive, very useful tools, but it’s not easy finding the right subject and good invariant lighting... working on more and better over time for all the lenses I review.

Zeiss Biogon 25/2.8 ZM lens: I cover this lens in my Guide to Leica. It’s an excellent optic, very sharp.
