Reader Comments: Nikon D800E With Zeiss Lenses

I would like to thank you for your excellent and exhaustive reviews on camera gear. It was because of your analyses that I decided to switch systems and upgrade from my Canon 5D Mark II to a Nikon D800E. The quality of the files from the D800E are simply superb and better than anything I have seen yet from a DSLR.
I would also like to say that you are right that the Zeiss Lens range paints or draws differently. Largely because of you I have ended up with the 25/2 and 50/2 and I find both of these to be superb lenses.
I also have a Nikon 24-70/2.8 for sheer convenience when autofocus is necessary. However, there is a clear difference in the quality of the images, both from a colour and micro contrast point of view. I would concur with you that lab measurements alone cannot express the artistic merits of various lenses in real world use.
Thanks again for your work and great website.
DIGLLOYD: Real-world images make an impression over time and there lies the reason that I like Zeiss glass. For the same autofocus reasons, I have many Nikon lenses also, but in the field I almost always prefer to shoot Zeiss.
Out in the field, I shoot Zeiss (or Leica in a few cases).
