SanDisk Card Errors in D800E
This happened twice today. Disturbing. Both the Mac OS X Finder and Photoshop CS6 could not open some files in a sequence.
SanDisk 64GB Extreme Pro 90MB/sec Compact Flash card.
This is not the first time I’ve had such problems (on multiple cameras) with SanDisk.

I had the exact same problem with my new SanDisk 16Gb Extreme Pro CF card that I bought just to use with the LensRentals D800 body. I purchased the memory from B&H, so I think it is legit SanDisk card. I had to load a SanDisk SD card from my M9, reformat, and use that instead. It took two reformatting sequences on the D800 before it worked. I thought the issue I encountered was a D800 bug, but your report suggests it is a SanDisk problem. Hmmm. Leica had had to re-issue firmware on account of SanDisk.
DIGLLOYD: First the Lexar SDXC card failure and now sporadic corrupted files with the SanDisk card. Could there be a D800 / D800E firmware bug?

I had the same problem with my D700; in fact I sent you an email asking if you know of any helpful software.
It may have been the card reader some people said, so I got a new one. This at least recognised the files, but I eventually got my NEFs on to my iMac by going to the card via Bridge CS5 which did recognise the NEF files on the card. Then I dragged them across by select and pull to the hard disk. Thank you Bridge.
DIGLLOYD: I suppose the card reader cannot be ruled out, and I will definitely look at that. However, I was using a new FW800 card reader.

I have had this problem very occasionally with my Canon 5DII and a SanDisk 64gb Extreme Pro 90mb/sec card. No other SanDisk card in my collection behaves like this.
DIGLLOYD: I hope to get to the bottom of this. Perhaps when it happens again, I will try downloading via cable to the camera to rule out the card reader.

I just received my D800E two weeks ago. I had my D700 with me when I picked it up, so I opened the CF slot in the 700 and put the card in the 800e. "E" was displayed even though the CF slot was identified as primary. It was a 64G Promaster card. This card is made by Sandisk according to my camera vendor. The camera vendor opened a new card (same brand), and I got the same "empty" reading. I then tried a third card, same result. The vendor had no other cards, but indicated that a similar problem had occurred upon delivery of a d800 earlier that week.
I drove down the street to Best Buy, bought a 16G Sandisk CF (!) and it has worked perfectly for two weeks.
Just thought I would share this experience with you. Is there a Nikon forum where this experience is being tabulated? The Leica user's forum seemed very effective at getting the M9 firmware updated promptly to fix the M9 card errors.
I have had no problems with the SD cards (from any manufacturer...yet). Only issue, for me are the Promaster CF cards.
DIGLLOYD: I’m not aware of any forum tabulating this.

I’d just like to let you know that I’ve also had problems with read errors on my 30MB/s 8GB Sandisk Extreme cards on my D800, the cards worked just fine on my D300. Just received my D800E, no card problems with that one yet but I haven’t had the chance to shoot many frames with it.
Thanks for the great work by the way, really appreciate it!
DIGLLOYD: Suggestive that camera model could be an issue.
