58mm Lenses on Nikon
Three 58mm lenses for Nikon.
The Nikon AF-S 58mm f/1.4G has just been released.
The NOCT-Nikkor is out of production for some years and is an expensive collector’s item. Regrettably, I sold my cherry picked copy about five years ago. Even worse in some sense, the NOCT has become such an expensive collector’s item that many of them likely sit in a display case instead of being used.
The Voigtlander 58mm f/1.4 SL as shown below is out of production but there is a revised-build 58/1.4 Nokton SL II N version available for about $489 at B&H Photo (also available at CameraQuest.com which is the official Voigtlander USA distributor). The newer versions are apparently optically identical. The Voigtlander 58/1.4 focuses to 1:5.8, which is significantly and usefully larger than the 1:7.7 of the Nikon 58/1.4G. And it’s a relative bargain.
