Sigma dp2 Quattro as Monochrome Camera?
Like its predecessor DP Merrill line which delivers outstanding black and white imagery from its true-color sensor, the new Sigma dp2 Quattro line are also monochrome cameras, meaning it is a color camera with monochrome layers, not the RGGB Bayer matrix type.
The new sensor in the dp2 Quattro utilizes a 19.6-megapixel monochrome top layer, with two color layers below that. Hence a full monochrome image is available off the top layer (and color data can still selectively contribute to a black and whit image if desired). It’s an interesting area for exploration.
