Center sharpness of the 24-105/f4L is outstanding, with essentially no improvement as the lens is stopped down. Sharpness does decline beginning at f16 and increasing at f22 due to diffraction.

Stopping down to f11 achieves the best results, with f16 being about the same.

Stopping all the way down to f22 is required to make Point B2 sharpen up reasonably well.

This far forward from the plane of focus the image quality improves right down to f16, and remains about the same at f22.
