Canon [Info]
Canon EF 15mm f/2.8 [info]
Visible rating: 4
Infrared rating: 4
A sharp lens, but with fairly high red/cyan color fringing.
Canon EF 35mm f/1.4L [info]
Visible rating: 4.5
Infrared rating: 4.5
A very sharp lens optimized for corner sharpness, but some of the “L” zooms outperform it in the extreme corners. Beautiful bokeh, and a terrific lens for shooting at dusk.
Canon EF 50mm f/1.4 [info]
Visible rating: 4
Infrared rating: 3.5
My sample shows images low in contrast at f/1.4 and f/2 over much of the frame. The MTF chart suggests it should be an outstanding performer, but this is not the case with my sample. Still, at f/2.8 it produces very pleasing results.
Canon EF 50mm f/1.2L [info]
Visible rating: 5
Infrared rating: 4
Shoot this lens from f/1.2 to f/2.8. After that, the US$99 50mm f/1.8 II will outperform it. Beautiful background blur is the reason to buy this lens and/or the ability to shoot in low light, so buy and use it for its intended purpose.
Canon EF 85mm f/1.2L II [info]
Visible rating: 5
Infrared rating: 5
The fastest lens in its class, it renders beautiful results wide open, but focus must be exact to reach peak sharpness at f/1.2. The 85mm f/1.8 is an excellent alternative, offering similar performance at considerably lower cost, and with softness in the extreme corners until f/4.

I love this lens for closeup portrait shots. Very sharp wide open, provided the focus is precise.

Infrared rating: 5
Almost no criticisms can be made of this lens. Contrast is a bit low wide open and of course focus must be perfect to extract its phenomenal sharpness. Infrared performance is excellent, but backfocus is substantial, so careful focus is required.
