Comparative Review:
Nikon D200 vs Nikon D2x

08 July 2006 (updated Sept 24, 2007)

If you are considering the Nikon D2X or Nikon D200, this review is a must-read. You won’t find anything else like this comparative review—on the web or in print.

Even if you already have one of these outstanding cameras, this review offers valuable insights into multiple areas of performance, including resolution, dynamic range, color, noise, usability, and lens evaluations.  See the Table of Contents for a complete list page thumbnails, reader comments, or see below to purchase.

The December, 2005 debut of the $1699 Nikon D200, with its 10.2-megapixel sensor called into question whether the $4999 Nikon D2X was worth the much greater financial outlay. The D2X now sells for $3799 (after rebate), and a new D2Xs has been introduced, with incrementally improved features. The question of value is still very relevant, not to mention feature set, image quality and other intangibles. This review answers those questions definitively.

The review is approximately 84 megabytes due to the size and number of the example photos, including large crops, aperture series, etc.  They are of sufficient number and quality to be very revealing of how these cameras perform—and ample for the reader to make independent judgments (though all comparisons are accompanied by evaluations). There is simply nothing else like this review with its profusion of high-quality examples.

What does it cost?

The review costs $23.95 USD, payable via paypal (preferred) or personal check or money order.  The review is licensed to a single person only; providing it to another party in any form is prohibited—thank you for respecting the time and effort that went into preparing it.

I just purchased your D200/D2x article. I find your articles to be the most cost effective camera accessory I purchase! I found the review as I was looking for the one on stitching images you indicated you might put together, I'll buy that if you have time to put it together.
