Leica M240
Zeiss ZM 35mm f/1.4 Distagon

Aperture Series: Granite Glacial Polish to Cloud’s Rest (M240)

The Zeiss ZM 35/1.4 Distagon delivers sharpness edge to edge for infinity focus, but this series shows its behavior at medium range, where even at significant distance it retains the ability to isolate a specific area almost with a miniaturization effect.

This striking and useful ability to persuasively isolate the subject for high visual impact derives from its very high contrast and sharpness wide open, combined with a beautifully even-handed bokeh quality along with very strong control of aberrations of all kinds, and tight control over field curvature. The Leica M 35mm lenses have lower contrast and sharpness along with distracting wave-type field curvature and less uniform bokeh, and thus cannot deliver this sensational combination, a quality that the ZM 35/1.4 Distagon displays in every shot it makes.
