Compared vs Olympus SHG 14-35/2 ED (Olympus E-M5, Dolls)

Field testing showed that focus-matching to an accuracy that ensures a defensible test is quite difficult, even with multiple attempts (tried).

Hence this comparison used focus bracketing with a nodal slider to ensure the absolute best results from each lens (series shots, adjustments made for the best results), ruling out any doubt of a “best possible” for each lens. It is thus definitive for close range, and field shots with the 17/1.8 suggest that the results apply to medium distance as well.

The nodal slider (by adjusting distance) also neutralized the very substantial difference in entrance pupil offset so that the 14-35mm f/2 ED was actually shot at 17mm, not the wider zoom setting that would have otherwise been required.
