Auto ISO With Flash
Auto ISO can be really useful to ensure that a minimum shutter speed is used.
But it turns out that the X100 auto-ISO feature performs poorly under mixed lighting, at least with fill flash as this examples shows— the camera chose ISO 1600, in spite of part of the image being illuminated in full sunlight.
If auto-ISO chooses badly, I’m just not interested in using it.
Example
I chose f/8 at 1/2000 so as to not blow-out the sunlit area; the camera instead of filling with flash chose to ramp up from ISO 200 to ISO 1600. This makes no sense at this distance; there was plenty of flash power available.
