A pancake lens has fewer opportunities for optical corrections, and so the working expectation necessarily must be that performance could range from modest to very good, but probably not first-rate, at least not in general, though it could be very good at particular distances and apertures.
I had terrible problems with the Fujifilm X-E1 autofocus, but this example appears to be focused exactly where intended.
This is a deep 3D scene and so sharpness is mainly about depth of field. But we can learn something about the lens bokeh and off-center optical behavior and field curvature with such a series.

The variation in brightness at each aperture is caused by an inconsistency in the Fujifilm exposure algorithms— it cannot seem to meter the same the same way second to second.
