Compared vs Sigma DP1 Merrill (Garden Tables)

This 3D comparison was chosen to evaluate sharpness across the frame and overall imaging quality. The large near/far placement of various subject matter leads to insights as to each camera’s performance.

Raw conversion and sharpening

Raw conversion used Adobe Camera Raw (ACR) for the Nikon Coolpix A, and Sigma Photo Pro for the Sigma DP1 Merrill. White balance was set using the white table leg from the f/5.6 frame for each camera.

Since the very nature of the cameras is different (sensors) and raw conversion was different, post-conversion sharpening was also applied to each in a manner intended to produce a fair showing of the sharpness from each camera, but falling short of objectionable artifacts.
