Olympus OM-D E-M1

Olympus E-M1 Sensor Quality

The Olympus OM-D E-M1 is a worthy successor to the E-M5. The sensor quality seems to be better in handling of color and noise.

The only critique to be made of the sensor quality is one found consistently with all images even under ideal conditions and ideal exposure, and that is the ever-present hint graininess (noise) that is a result of its relatively small sensor size. In some cases, this “look” might actually be an improvement, but it limits the versatility of the camera (as compared to full frame) for demanding lighting situations where dark tones have to be raised, or the image pushed, or if the image starts out 1-2 stops underexposed in ETTR terms (very common with auto exposure on all cameras).
