Aperture Series and Comparison at 12mm f/2 (Dolls)
The Olympus M. Zuiko Digital ED 12mm f/2 is an able performer, and the 12-50mm kit zoom is not, as this comparison shows.
Also of interest is image quality as the lens is stopped down (diffraction), as well as focus shift behavior.
Test scene
Focus was done with autofocus on the head of Miss Checkerboard.
It can be seen that the 12-50mm zoom is not as wide a field of view at 12mm as the 12mm f/2 prime lens (its distortion might contribute to the loss).
