Sony A7R Little Stuff That Gets In The Way

Given the menu system, I might be forgiven for missing some obscure voodoo.

Here are “little things”s that are not so little when trying to make a camera work efficiently in the field. The sun sets in 2 minutes: quick (!) where is that obscure setting and why did the camera reset the stuff you used 30 seconds ago?!!

The pedigree of the A7R and A7 shows: it carries genetic contamination of toys adapted for camera use, not a tool designed by photographers. Fortunately, most of it can be reprogrammed, but not the hard-coded behaviors apparently intended to keep dilettantes from being confused.

Exposure adjustment in magnified Live View

I almost always shoot on manual so that I can ensure the best possible ETTR exposure for maximum quality. Problem is, when the A7R is in magnified view, there is apparently no way to modify the exposure values (time and aperture). So I am forced to press the button to exit magnified view, adjust, then press-press-press (3 times) to return. It’s an absurd time waster.
