This aperture series from f/1.6 through f/11 shows how the strong veiling aberations dissipate with stopping down.
Due to the extreme level of veiling aberrations, it is impossible to focus precisely at f/1.6 or even at f/2.8. This series was focused at f/4.

Adobe Camera Raw 9.7.0 (668): view ACR settings. Camera Profile=Adobe Standard. Diffraction is probably the last concern of anyone using this lens, diffraction mitigating sharpening was not applied.
Vignetting is hardly there, curious for a 'classic' lens. Possibly the lens throws a large image circle and that explains it.
