MTF for Zeiss Loxia 85mm f/2.4 Sonnar from f/2.4 to f/16
MTF wide open at f/2.4 already exceeds many lenses at their best aperture.
There is little change from f/2.4 to f/2.8 (only 1/3 of a stop);
As field shots confirm, f/4 bumps up quality nicely and f/5.6 is outstanding, although the Otus 85/1.4 APO-Planar is better (the Otus 85/1.4 having no peers being, the best lens on any platform). However, the Loxia 85/2.4 looks to have a flatter field (less field curvature), a behavior also confirmed in field shots.
Field shots show worthwhile outer-zone improvements in stopping down to f/5.6, which delivers world-class MTF that flatlines across the central 3/4 of the frame, declining slightly as the edges are approached. It is a superbly consistent performance that f/8 begins to degrade from diffraction.
