Focusing Accuracy with 85mm f/1.2L II
The Canon 1D X has Canon’s latest generation autofocus technology, so I decided to put it to the most important test to me: can the camera “nail” the focus at f/1.2 at various distances and a variety of subject matter under differing lighting conditions?
I do not expect perfection from any autofocus system, and there are some subjects that are ambiguous even to the human eye (where to focus exactly), but the key is can the camera get it right in the non-ambiguous cases most of the time?
At f/1.2, there is no margin for error.
As this test is all about focus accuracy and the subject matter was purely ad-hoc (of no artistic merit), the images shown here are all actual pixels crops at the point of focus.
