ISO Series from 100 to 25600 vs Canon 5DS R (Dolls)

This page assesses noise with the Canon 5D Mark IV across the ISO range from base ISO to ISO 25600. As a reference point, the Canon 5DS R is included at both the Canon 5D Mark IV resolution and at full native resolution.

Per pixel noise is an erroneous way to compare noise, since higher megapixels means less enlargement. Hence this page compares the Canon 5DS R noise to that of the Canon 5D Mark III by downsampling its images to the 5D Mark IV resolution, but also includes the full native resolution of the 5DS R.

At lower ISO values, cameras with higher pixel density tend to perform similarly to those with lower pixel density at equivalent magnification (“print size”). But as ISO rises, color quality and chroma noise typically are less good with higher pixel density, due in part to a lower signal/noise ratio on each pixel.
