Distortion Control in Capture NX2

Nikon Capture NX2 includes two ways to correct the 16mm f/2.8 fisheye for the inherent fisheye distortion: the Fisheye Lens control and the Distortion Control control, the latter is covered by this page.

The Distortion Control features is found in the Adjust => Correct => Distortion Control… menu.

It allows correction by up to 100%, so you have even more flexibility; you can correct a little or a lot.

The image below has been corrected by 100%, and to my eye looks excellent for its ultra wide angle of view.

If you’re going to correct distortion, you might as well correct chromatic aberration, because color fringing looks much worse as the image is stretched out by distortion correction.
