Examples
Examples from the 24-120. I normally shoot more examples, but early results showed some disappointments, so I did not shoot the 24-120 extensively, preferring to spend my limited time in the mountains with my Zeiss lenses. Examples here are nonetheless instructive.
Processing
These examples processed in Nikon Capture NX2, followed by modest sharpening using Topaz Labs InFocus, typically using Sharpen {.10, .10, .60} or similar. I did not use the deblur function, but the sharpening using InFocus seems to reduce halo effects better than Smart Sharpen— something I’m not certain of, but so it appears. Using the deblur feature definitely increases apparent sharpness at the risk of artifacts, but its use needs to be fine-tuned for each image, and so I chose to use consistent sharpening (only) for all images. That choice means that low contrast fine details won’t be pulled out as well, so give some credit in such areas of the image crops shown.
