Autofocus — Nikon D3x Flag

The D3x “nailed” the brick building test. A few moments later, this test was performed.

Nine frames were shot on a tripod (tenth for manual focus). For each frame, the 24/1.4G was defocused, then autofocus was allowed to complete. I always set my cameras to disallow shutter release unless the AF can lock on, so there is zero chance that the camera simply failed to focus.

The focus point was about 80 feet (25 meters) distant, the US flag on the brick building. Although the flag was fluttering in the breeze, the 1/8000 shutter speed made movement irrelevant.
