Examples from the first day. I had about 45 minutes of daylight to shoot these images near Alpine Creek. All examples with Live View focusing to avoid the focus error problem.

These tests are with my December 2010 sample lens.

Redwood trunk with green lichen

The detail and contrast wide open at f/1.4 are impressive. Not just the very high micro contrast on fine details (high for f/1.4), but the overall contrast and color are fantastic. Aside from vignetting and depth of field, one would not guess that this is an f/1.4 image.
