Reindeer Bokeh
The images shown here were all processed identically in Capture NX2 using a white balance of Incandescent with Picture Control = Standard. Noise reduction, Vignetting Correction, Auto Color Aberration were all disabled.
The purpose of these images is to show the image rendition in terms of coma, sagittal coma flare, and other aberrations, as well as flare and bokeh as the lens is stopped down. The results offer great insight into what kind of sharpness and contrast can be expected for everyday images, because the “smearing” of point light sources into blobs translates directly into contrast: the so-called point spread function.
