Conclusions

Comments here exclude flawed samples as with the first sample tested, showing the right-side infinity-focus blur. The second sample all but eliminated the hot spot and shows no signs of the blur problem.

Disappointments

The 70-200VR2 is not without several disappointments.

Distortion is an unflattering pinchusion type (bowing in) at 200mm, gradually diminishing towards the wide end to barrel distortion. See the Departing Ships example and observe how the horizon bows inwards.
