Nikon 85mm f/1.4G

Distortion

No easily observable distortion.

Even at full D3x resolution, I could not detect any deviation exceeding one pixel across the entire width of the center of the frame (using gridlines in Photoshop).

However, approaching the corners, some distortion does creep in, and applying automatic distortion correction in Nikon Capture NX2 does show some correction of what appears to be very slight barrel distortion, somewhat of an oddity for an 85mm lens. However, the amount is so low that it’s hard to be sure whether the correction is accurate or not.

The older 85mm f/1.4D has a faint touch of pincushion distortion, compare.
