Nikon D4

Resolution of Nikon D4 vs D3s and D800 (Dolls)

This page compares the 16-megapixel Nikon D4 to the 36-megapixel Nikon D800 and 12-megapixel Nikon D3s, from base ISO to maximum ISO.

The lens used was the Coastal Optics 60mm f/4 UV-VIS-IR APO Macro at f/6.3. It offers exceptional color rendition free of any defocus color errors, as well as very high resolving power.

The exact-same perspective and distance could not be maintained between cameras due to different camera heights and mounting plate offsets. They are close enough.

Comparison resolution

To discuss resolution or noise outside the context of the same enlargement size (e.g., the same print size) is folly. The D800 needs much less enlargement than the D4 which in turn needs less enlargement than the D3s. Just as interesting is the character of any noise combined with resolved detail, the final visual impact of the whole.
