D800E vs D800 RAW Sharpening Comparison (Aerial, Fountain)

Be sure to read the notes on the previous page describing this test scene, and the test scene is shown on the previous page.

The goal here is to show how the amount of sharpening as well as the kind of sharpening can make or break the apparent image sharpness.

Sharpening notes

For the ACR (Adobe Camera RAW) sharpening, the Amount was varied as noted, and the other parameters left the same. See the raw processing page.

For the Nikon Capture NX2 2.3.1 sharpening, Picture Control=Standard was used, along with an Unsharp Mask step of none, {Intensity=10, Radius=3%}, {Intensity=50, Radius=3%}. Noise control and other corrections disabled.
