The Voigtlander Nokton 58mm f/1.4 SL II is a high speed classic portrait lens, its 58mm focal length being slightly longer than a “normal” lens, yet allowing closer working distance than an 85mm.
The image rendition is targeted not so much for contrast as for bokeh and visual appeal. In this respect it might be a desirable lens for portraiture and the like.
The 58/1.4 has an aperture ring, and thus can also be used on Canon EOS with a mechanical lens adapter. It is small and light and very compact. Build quality is similar to Zeiss lenses.
