A messy business. Comments can only go so far here — look for yourself.
- At f/1.4, and f/2, the 35/1.4 produces an image with some detail, but overall it is very soft and low in contrast.
- At f/2.8, the 17-35 produces an image with moderate detail, better overall than the 24-70 and 28-70. The 35/1.4 is showing very good detail at lower right, but is very smeared at upper left.
- At f/4, the 16-35 shows moderate detail, on par with the 17-35. The other lenses remains quite smeared at top left, but the 35/1.4 show excellent detail at lower right.
- At f/5.6, the 35/1.4 looks excellent over about half the area, but with blur developing at upper left. The 16-35 shows overall consistent detail that is not very crisp, not unlike the 17-35 and 24-70. The 28-70 is very smeared.
- At f/8, the 24-70 and 35/1.4 look excellent, the 16-35 very good, and the 17-35 and 28-70 disappoint.
- At f/11, the 16-35 and 17-35 and 28-70 improve, but the 17-35 remains softer than the rest.
