Cool Features

The Pentax 645D offers features that either are completely absent or rare for medium format, or even some DSLRs. This page discusses notable ones.

Pixel mapping

The camera can check itself and map out defective pixels. Why doesn’t every digital camera offer this?! All of them have defective pixels, and they can develop over time (as with my Nikon D3x). Great idea! Far better than having to send a camera in for service, as with my Nikon D3x.

Anti dust ultrasonic vibration feature

No other medium format camera (as of Dec 2010) has an anti-dust sensor feature. Great!
