SuperRes Pixel Shift Mode Examples: Subject Motion
SuperRes pixel shift mode (“SR-PSM”) has the potential for a big leap up in quality by decreasing noise for long exposures. But when the subject matter is moving, it is like making multiple exposures and then combining, with the result that anything moving goes “out of register”.
Movement can be gross (people moving inches or feet or meters) or tiny (a leaf moving 0.25mm). In either case, the result is undesirable artifacts. Possibly, even variable lighting can cause issues.
