MTF wide open at f/1.4 is astounding. Moreover the behavior is eminently predictable and thus superior for making real images: very high central contrast, rolling of gently to the periphery.

This is world-class performance. The fact that MTF drops off to the edges is expected, and even so, the performance at the edges at f/1.4 is as good as many f/1.4 lenses in the center.
