The Sigma 50mm f/1.4 EX DG HSM ($730 MSRP, $499 street price) garnered praise as a high-performing “normal” lens, but it has been eclipsed by its 2014 sibling, the Sigma 50mm f/1.4 DG HSM 'Art'.

The Sigma 50 is also available in other mounts, including Nikon and Sony.

Sigma states that the new 50/1.4 offers superior peripheral brightness (eg low vignetting), an aspheric lens element that corrects coma and sagittal flare, enhanced lens coatings, and fast and silent autofocus.
