Introduction

The Cosina Voigtlander 90mm f/3.5 APO-Lanthar SL II, 58mm f/1.4 Nokton SL II, 40mm f/2 SL II ASPH, and Color Skopar 20/3.5 SL ASPH are the latest Nikon and Canon mount offerings from Voigtlander. All are quite similar in build quality and appearance to the Zeiss ZF line, reviewed in detail in Zeiss ZF Lenses.

Since the Zeiss ZF line is manufactured in Japan by Cosina, it would not be surprising if they shared some similarities. At first glance, one might mistake the Voigtlander offerings for the ZF lenses; both lines are finished in satin black, though the ZF line has certain accents such as chrome filter rings and all-metal design, whereas the Voigtlander lenses use rubberized focusing rings (which I prefer).

Extensive prior experience with the entire ZF / ZE line provided excellent perspective for evaluating the Voigtlander offerings.
