Leica 50mm f/1.4 Summicron-M ASPH

Examples: 50/1.4 Summilux-M (White Mountains)

The images here were taken in the White Mountains of California in one afternoon from mid-day to dusk, with a strong emphasis on exploring the wide-open performance at f/1.4. I offer photo tours in this area.

I have chosen a variety of images not for the “pretty sunset” look, but rather to show just how the 50/1.4 Summilux renders with a variety of subjects all coherently part of a photo essay from late July 2011 in the White Mountains.

Many of the images on this page used a Sigma polarizer (what I had on hand), used for the purpose of a neutral density filter. This is needed because of overexposure issues even at 1/4000 second. The polarizer was a temporary one that I no longer have, and its effect on color rendition is unknown.
