Focus Shift with the 50/2 APO ASPH (Pellegrino Bottles)
June 2013 lens sample, which suffered from poor flare control.
This meticulously-executed test used a focusing rail to bracket focus in precise 5mm increments; several efforts were made in order to cross check and verify. It proves a rearward focus shift with the Leica 50mm f/2 APO-Summicron-M.
Two series are shown: +0 (as focused) and -10mm (camera moved 10mm more distant). An intermediate result at -5mm is not shown, but was used to cross check.

Leica 24-megapixel M240 at ISO 200. Image magnification ratio of 1:19.1 as determined by measuring the ruler and assuming a 36.0mm wide sensor width, hence just over 1 meter subject to imaging plane distance.
