Zeiss ZM 21mm f/4.5 C-Biogon

Examples: Death Valley Abandoned Mining Site (M9)

These examples were taken at three abandoned mining sites (copper, sulfur, gypsum) in northern Death Valley National Park. Mine shafts did not lure me in (very dangerous), and one shaft takes at least 8 seconds for a stone to hit bottom. These miners worked hard at great personal risk, and left a big mess behind documenting their lives. I hope it remains as-is, because it represents a bygone era. A high clearance 4WD vehicle can reach two of the three sites, the third requires about a 1 mile hike.

I had lousy dull overcast lighting for these shots, but the aim here is not to impress with the best possible light, but to show how the camera performs under ordinary conditions.

Aperture not recorded

All apertures are “best guess” from memory— the M9 does not and cannot know the aperture at which the exposure is made. The notation ~f/8 means “f/8 or thereabouts”.
