Zeiss ZM 35mm f/2 Biogon

Notes: 35mm f/2 Zeiss ZM Biogon

Note: Zeiss adjusts ZM lenses very precisely for the Leica specification for film cameras. That flange focal distance might or might not be perfect for any particular M body. See Rangefinder Focus Error With Leica M9 and Zeiss ZM Lenses as well as the 35/2 Biogon vs Leica 35/1.4 focus study.

35mm lens choices are discussed here.

The Zeiss ZM 35mm f/2 Biogon is relatively inexpensive at about $1100, but a star performer in my field shooting. Its virtually non-existent distortion makes it suitable for any technically demanding photography where absolute image integrity is needed, such as architecture, group portraits, etc— anywhere where depicting natural features true-to-life is a priority. To “play” with geometric patterns, a distortion-free lens is a wonderful thing.
