Three APO lenses compared on the 36-megapixel Nikon D800E. Only the Sigma is in production as of 2013 with the two others having been discontinued but available on the used market.

A high performing apochromatic lens should eliminate both longitudinal chromatic aberration (LOCA) and lateral chromatic aberration (LCA), and as related effects, it should also minimize secondary longitudinal chromatic aberration, spherical aberration and spherochromaticism.

There is no marketing definition for “APO”. Hence each vendor is free to correct for color to the extent deemed appropriate for the idea.
