Comparison to Canon EF 100mm f/2.8L IS macro

This page evaluates another sample of the 100/2.8L IS (the third one I’d tested for DAP). This sample was not brand-new, though it looks as if it were. I rented it from LensRentals.com, and LensRentals checks over their equipment carefully before rental.

Like the first two brand-new samples, this third sample of the Canon 100/2.8L IS has a problem, which makes my job easy. At any rate, the Zeiss stands on its own merits, offering outstanding results wide open.

The subject and focal lengths

I used the mosaic at Memorial Church at Stanford University; it’s a target that makes seeing lens issues straightforward. Nothing moved; I swapped lenses with the tripod and camera locked into place.
