These images were taken with the Zeiss ZE 21/2.8 Distagon, the native-for-Canon EOS version announced on Sept 28, 2009. Lens provided by Zeiss USA for testing. The ZE and ZF designs are optically identical, according to Zeiss.

Wow! You won’t see this kind of clarity with any other 21mm. The image is stunning in its detail and transparency of color; the deep blue light is one of the hardest things to reproduce well and the ZE 21/2.8 Distagon hits a home run here in both detail and color. I lit the foreground trees and the small structure with a 1400 lumen Lupine Betty headlamp.
