Overview of Milvus 50/2M
The Zeiss Milvus 50mm f/2M Makro-Planar is the same optical formula as its ZF.2/ZE predecessor. However, its flare control has been substantially improved, according to Zeiss.
When focusing, the extended (revealed) portion of the lens barrel now has engraved markings for distance and reproduction ratios.
Aperture control
The F-mount version uses a manual iris ring as with the other ZF.2 lenses, but with full electronic 1/3 stop control. The manual aperture ring on the ZF.2 model allows using the lens not just on Nikon, but on Canon, Leica M240, Sony mirrorless, etc— any camera that has an adapter for Nikon F-mount.
