ZF.2 Otus 55mm f/1.4 APO-Distagon

Vignetting

Vignetting into the corners is noticeable wide open at f/1.4, at over two stops. However, field images show less vignetting than one might suspect from the graph, probably because of an ideal ray angle to the sensor such that little light is lost to reflection.

Stopping down to f/4 eliminates vignetting as a practical consideration as it will not be visible in most images. Behavior at f/2.8 is likely around 1/2 stop, but this graph is not provided.

Since sharpness is excellent even wide open, vignetting can be used as a neutral density filter, e.g. bright white clouds or the sun in the corners.
