This example makes short work of the notion that focusing 100 feet / 30 meters out can make a sharp image at greater distance! There is precious little depth of field with an 85mm lens at f/1.4 even at considerable distance: precision focus is essential for best results.

The RawDigger histograms shows that substantial underexposure is the case for most of the image, but using log scale, it can be seen that the highlights push right to the limits and even blow out slightly, such is the dynamic range here.
