This article is part of a series. See Introduction to Camera Features to start.

Subject movement is often a challenge. Here, the idea is not people or animals or cars, but rather leaves, grass and other natural objects that may move because of wind.

Requirements:

Generally assumes use of a tripod. These features fall into the category of computational photography, and presume a very high speed CPU or GPU or FPGA.

  • Option to defer exposure up to N seconds until subject movement is minimal, with “movement meter” for real-time feedback.

Captured image:

  • Audible warning past a threshold value.
  • Color mask or similar showing areas of movement
  • Option to take up to N images keeping M of N with least movement.
  • Intelligent image merge in areas of motion, replacing moving blurred areas from other images that were not moving.
