Fuji X100 — Yes
My verdict on the Fuji X100, which I will soon detail in my review in DAP, is that here is a camera with some shortcomings, but by and large it kicks some butt in the point-and-shoot style world, with classic style and outstanding lens and image quality— highly recommended on that basis as a pocketable (large pocket) replacement for a DSLR, with the main shortcomings being focus speed and one fixed-focal-length lens, albeit a terrific one, a 35mm (equivalent) f/2.
On the value front, the $1199 price tag is sure to castrate the enthusiasm of all but the most ardent of photographers.
Lop off $400 and it would be a compelling camera for serious photographers looking for DSLR quality in a compact package. You’re paying for DSLR quality in a less versatile package for the sake of size and weight— but there really is no alternative that combines the size/weight/image quality in this form factor.
